CARLOS ROGERS- DQR

DQR

DQR is the essay in which a position or statement is presented and you must their defend, qualify, or refute the position or statement and provide adequate evidence to support your position.

Carlos Rogers is a Cornerback on the Niners and his job is to block passes by the other team's offense. He is the third best player on the team and ranked in the NFL's top 100 players. Because of his skill, he adequately represents the DQR for me as DQR ranks highly in my personal skillset.

WORST BLOCK- "T. Paine"

The prompt for Thomas Paine drew from his characterization of America in his book Rights of Man and asked to defend, refute, or qualify the validity of his characterization in modern times.

The main problem with my analysis was I had a really weak reason why my position was correct in addition to my bad phrasing. Sometimes my examples and analysis were correct, I just could not properly enunciate what I meant. \

BEST BLOCK- "de Botton"

de Botton was an author who wrote that the "chief aim of humorists is not merely to entertain but 'to convey with impunity messages that might be dangerous or impossible to state directly.'" We were asked to defend, refute or qualify whether we believed that humorists were  vital members of society who were meant to say what others couldn't.

The best part of my analysis was my examples of Nast and Tweed in corrupt 1800s New York. My counter argument was solid as well.

I don't have the written-on copy for any revisions, but I do know I scored high and felt confident at the time I turned it in.
