PATRICK WILLIS- SYNTHESIS

SYNTHESIS

Synthesis is similar to the Document -Based Questions (DBQ) found on the AP History exams. It provides various documents that you must incorporate into your essay and use to support you position on a given issue.

Synthesis pieces are by far my favorite not only because they are incredibly easy, but because I can make my sources talk to each other and better support my own point.

Patrick Willis is easily the best linebacker in the NFL with 9 solo tackles his first game in 2007. He does his job with ease, just as I write synthesis papers with ease. These types of papers come to me just as naturally as blocking passes comes to Willis. He led the defense team in the 2011 season to become one of the best defensive lines in the NFL.

WORST SYNTHESIS- "Individuality vs. Conformity"

Individuality vs. Conformity was a synthesis prompt that asked to what extent schools should support either individuality or conformity in their students' character. I  chose to defend individuality rather than conformity.

My greatest weakness in writing this paper was that my points were weakly phrased or didn't even support my thesis. Sometimes, it would be correct but I didn't go into enough detail to support it for my thesis.

BEST SYNTHESIS-"Individual Rights"

Individual Rights was a synthesis prompt to see if the government should or should not protect the individual rights of its citizens regardless of the political climate. I defended this argument as I believe individual rights should be above all else including silly partisan disputes.
